The Blocking Solution is a high-performance blocking reagent designed for saturating free binding sites on plastic surfaces or other protein binding surfaces and for minimizing nonspecific binding to surfaces in immunoassays. The Blocking Solution is based on highly purified casein that has been chemically modified for maximum adsorption efficiency and a dense blocking layer. By incubating a surface with The Blocking Solution, such as a microtiter plate or western blotting membrane, free spaces on the surface are saturated by the components of this blocker. This minimizes unwanted binding of the analyte or the detection antibody to the surface, avoiding background and improving sensitivity of the assay.
